"Two dance teachers were commended for their fundraising efforts as they scooped a well-earned prize.

Lynn-based Noise & Chance School of Dance was named the winner in the Business Innovation category at this year’s Mayor’s Business Awards.

Spearheaded by Emily Penman and Trina Lee, their classes have been providing a unique place of solace for youngsters.

The pair had to fight off strong competition from PCL Ceramics and Hunstanton’s Promenade Leisure Company to scoop the top prize.

They believe their “passion and care” is what set them apart.

“I think when we had our interview with the judges, what they touched on most with us and vice-versa was the involvement we have in the community,” Emily said.

“It was quite apparent to them how much we put into what we do with the business and with the children in Lynn.”

Noise & Chance School of Dance currently operates out of one studio space, and exciting plans for the year ahead could see the team secure a second one.

Trina added: “There’s so much we’d like to do. We’d like to expand so that both of us can teach at the same time, and expand our timetable.”

The Business Innovation category was sponsored by MCP Solicitors. Claire James, a partner and chartered legal executive at the firm, presented the award on Friday evening.

She said: “We really do enjoy sponsoring this category. It’s so inspiring to learn how businesses respond to the ever-changing economic climate and come up with innovative ways to grow.

“All of the finalists in our category are worthy winners. We are particularly impressed, however, with how involved our chosen winner is in her fundraising efforts for the local community and other businesses.

“They epitomise innovation through the new programme of teaching they have embarked on with the Royal Ballet, which assists with more challenging needs for students and helps support their mental health - approaching teaching from a slightly different angle.

“They have so many ideas of how to move their business forward in the next 12 months, and their passion for what they do is completely infectious.” "
